Verbal warfare through radical ideals

Am I 1?

You are not original.

What, are you shocked that I opened with such a bombshell as that? You shouldn’t be. If you were even slightly phased by that statement, then you’ve been drifting through an existence unaware of the fact that every facet of your life is somehow subconsciously (or perhaps deliberately) controlled by the urge to fit and conform. You shouldn’t be surprised. It’s natural.  It would not be a stretch to say it’s one of the most common things to our world recently. To be compelled to bring an essence of every creative or image-inspired ideal to your daily life is not only the norm; it’s more than likely the last thing that humans use to separate us from the animal kingdom.

I don’t want to hear your excuses. “I’m not like most guys/girls out there”. “I’m different from everyone you know”. “I’m special”. The truth is you’re not, and the fact you’ve yet to recognize your fallacy of reason is the other most common trait that humanity shares. Arrogance. You’ve yet to establish yourself as a person. Why? Because you refuse to stop believing in things people tell you. You stop seeking information after the first answer comes your way. You have no conviction to your actions, and what little you do is spent needlessly on the hopelessly vain and trivial. The truth is you believe that you are separated from the herd because every once in a while you have cross words with a friend or relative, and believe that because you have 1 single viewpoint that is strong that you’ve reached the level of the individual and you stand alone against the world.

That’s where your reason fails. It’s not the single discrepancy that makes you original in form, or fashion. It’s when everything about you is the antithesis of why our world is the way it is. When your morality is steadfast, and yet still open to intellectual inquiry; that is when you pass into the realm of originality. When you abandon every thought you recognize as fact in favor of momentarily adopting a new ideology or perspective, you then push into the passively calm storm that is the mindset of the individual.

When you give up your friends because they refuse to accept you, when you choose to show dissent to those who are your elders, when you are taught a lesson and immediately go out to find your own lesson of the subject; when you are handed a simple thought, and rather than take it based on faith you decide to let the thought bloom as if it were the first concept you’ve ever considered…

Then you may say that you’re original. Until that point, you’ll never be one.

…just a zero.

It’s human nature to be “part of the herd”. The original or abnormal are the ones that get picked off by predators or rejected as sexual mates, etc. etc… Therefore, when looking at it from an animalistic point of view, it’s good to be normal.

But, since we are human and have developed a tiny bit past our instinct behavior in some cases, the abnormal has become something that is more common in our society and something that is sometimes praised.
